11.12.2017: Day Tripping: Visiting Birmingham Christmas Market

The week before last, I found myself heading somewhere completely new for the first time- Birmingham! Making use of a day off of work, I braved Euston (perhaps the most stress-inducing station known to man!) to catch the 10:03 train to Birmingham New Street. The purpose? Other than attempting to channel some Peaky Blinders inspired attitude, I was catching up with my lovely friend Kate, who I don't get to see nearly as often now she's living in Liverpool. Opting to meet more or less halfway between our two home cities, we settled on Brum- something of a no-brainer to be honest, as it gave us the chance to visit their wonderful Christmas market too: Although it was a truly chilly day weather wise, it was wonderful to visit somewhere I'd never been before- and I can't quite believe it's taken me quite to so long to discover this beautiful city. 18.08.2017- London Loves: Petersham Nurseries, Covent Garden

Let’s be honest, there are few places in the heart of central London which could reasonably be called an oasis of calm- especially at the height of the summer holidays. Whilst I’ve been battling to make my way to and from the Tube amidst a hubbub of people, navigating spells of sweltering summer weather and torrential rain alike, it’s fair to say that there’s not really been all that much time for any relaxation over the last month or so. Having said that, I’m delighted to have discovered a new tranquil treasure in the heart of the city- namely the recently opened Petersham Nurseries in Covent Garden: Whilst I’m yet to take a trip to the original branch of Petersham Nurseries in Richmond, the opening of this central London sister shop has been on my radar since it was announced at the start of the year.
